Nano-impact electrochemical current oscillation period: Altered the selectivity of methane electrooxidation reaction
Abstract
The direct electro-oxidation of methane (CH 4 OR) to produce high-value chemicals represents an effective and sustainable approach for methane utilization. However, the diversity of reaction products presents significant challenges in enhancing selectivity towards a single desired product. Herein, we report the successful synthesis of nanosheet high-entropy oxides via wet chemistry methods and demonstrate their effective electro-oxidation of methane to methyl formate. By varying the current oscillation period, we achieved precise control over product selectivity. Specifically, a Faraday efficiency of 83.5% was attained for the conversion of methane to methyl formate at 1.6 V relative to the reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), with a current oscillation period of 0.4 s. In this work, we systematically investigated the mass transfer behavior of the NiMnCoCuCeO x high-entropy oxide-catalyzed methane oxidation reaction using nano-impact electrochemistry (NIE). These findings provide a novel strategy for regulating product selectivity in electrocatalytic reactions by modulating the current oscillation period.
