Abstract

A keyless entry apparatus is described that comprises a main control module and a secondary module. The main module is powered by a power supply connected to a vehicle battery and includes a computing device a sensor, a wireless scanner, a wireless communication module, and a vehicle control circuit. The computing device is programmed to perform all the operations of the main module. A mobile communication device communicates with the wireless communication module of the main module to trigger the vehicle door actuator. As a backup mechanism, an electronic card can be scanned by the wireless scanner to control the vehicle door actuator. The sensor of the main module is adapted to detect a person (the driver) inside the vehicle. The secondary module communicates with the main module and includes a microcontroller, a vehicle battery voltage reader circuit, and fuse control circuitry. The microcontroller is programmed to perform functions for control and immobilization. The fuse control circuitry is connected to the vehicle fuse box and provides engine immobilization. The vehicle battery voltage reader circuit detects the voltage level of the vehicle battery. This implementation incorporates a secondary authentication layer to verify the driver/owner using a mobile device and focuses on both the locking mechanism of the vehicle and engine control.
