Abstract

We apologize for some misprints in the paper relative to the Abstract and Section 7. In the Abstract (page 1), lines 9–13 should be modified as follows. “Moreover, the interpretation of the body wave profiles and, in particular, of the Vs/Vp, ratios suggest the presence of unconsolidated material down to a depth of about 500 m below the sea level with an estimated porosity of the order of 10 %. Based on the Biot-Gassmann model, the body wave profile has been used for a preliminary estimate of the degree of gas saturation which reaches 50 % in the depth range 100–500 m of depths below the sea floor”. In Section 7 (page 6), lines 13–21 in the second column should be modified as follows. “The results of the BGTL modelling indicate a consistent Cv and φ of 0.1 throughout the 0–495 m depth interval. The calibration parameter ‘m’ varies from a value of 2 in the uppermost 10 m to 6 for the remainder of the profile. The parameter ‘e’ remains constant at a value of 2 across the entire profile, reflecting the high Poisson's ratio (> 0.3) observed, and indicating patchy gas saturation conditions. Sw decreases with depth, estimated at 0.9 in the upper 95 m and dropping to 0.5 between 95 m and 495 m.
