Voltammetric determination of sudan I in the presence of bisphenol A by using an amplified sensor with 2D zeolitic imidazolate framework-L and ionic liquid
Abstract
A reliable electrochemical sensor based on 2D zeolitic imidazolate framework-L (Co) and ionic liquid-modified carbon paste electrode (ZIF-L (Co)/ILCPE) was proposed to determine sudan I. When compared to traditional carbon paste electrodes, the ZIF-L (Co)/ILCPE sensor demonstrated good electrocatalytic activity toward sudan I with higher peak currents and lower peak potentials. The enhancement in sensing performance can be attributed to the synergistic effect between the highly porous structure and abundant active sites of ZIF-L (Co), which promote rapid electron transfer and efficient detection of sudan I, along with the high electrical conductivity of the incorporated IL. The generated anodic peak currents were found to be linearly dependent on the sudan I concentrations in the range of 0.025-500.0 µM, according to the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) data. Additionally, we found that sudan I has a detection limit of 0.01 µM. Additionally, with ∆E ~130 mV, the ZIF-L (Co)/ILCPE sensor shows two distinct oxidation signals for the simultaneous detection of sudan I and bisphenol A. Thus, DPV was used to effectively distinguish the oxidation peaks of sudan I and bisphenol A at the ZIF-L (Co)/ILCPE. Ultimately, the suggested approach was effectively used to identify these chemicals in a few actual samples. • A novel electrochemical sensor based on ZIF-L (Co)/ILCPE was developed for sensitive determination of Sudan I. • The sensor exhibited good electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of Sudan I, with enhanced peak current and reduced peak potential. • A wide linear range of 0.025 – 500.0 µM and a low detection limit of 0.01 µM were achieved for Sudan I. • The sensor enabled simultaneous determination of Sudan I and Bisphenol A with well-separated oxidation peaks. • The developed method was successfully applied to the determination of target compounds in real samples.
