Abstract

The recently published cohort study performed by Mol et al. is a welcome addition to the attempt at understanding optimal colonic surgical management strategies as well as the pathophysiology of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).1 Their analysis of the International PSC Registry (IPSCR) demonstrated that proctocolectomy with permanent ileostomy is associated with a reduced risk of liver transplantation and PSC-related death.
