Abstract

As nutrition and dietetics educators, one of our roles is to prepare nutrition students for their patient encounters in health care settings. Throughout nutrition and dietetics coursework, educators provide students with the knowledge and skillset to assess patients and prepare them for providing clinical interventions. Lectures, case study scenarios, and simulations may be used to teach students the vital steps when interacting with patients. In preparation for real patient encounters, guidance from faculty is essential to help students determine the relevance of the objective data and prioritize problems.
