Abstract

How do corporations evaluate performance in corporate venturing (CV) collaborations beyond financial metrics? What framework captures strategic alignment and innovation impact? Addressing this, we extend Kaplan and Norton’s Balanced Scorecard through case study analysis of five consumer goods multinationals. We integrate a fifth perspective—strategic alignment and purpose-driven impact—and adapt the original four, developing a performance framework with five key dimensions. This novel, industry-tailored tool provides actionable solutions for leaders in the consumer goods corporations to optimize CV engagements, enhance decision-making, and drive long-term value from corporation-startup partnerships.
