Methodological concerns undermining causal interpretation in early gastrostomy timing after intracerebral hemorrhage
Abstract
I read with great interest the article by Loggini and colleagues examining temporal trends and in-hospital outcomes associated with early gastrostomy (EG) in nontraumatic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)1. The authors are to be commended for using a large, nationally representative dataset to address an important and practical question in neurocritical care. Their focus on resource utilization and complications is timely and will stimulate useful discussion about care pathways for patients with ICH.
