Abstract

Objective: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), the predominant histological subtype of esophageal cancer, remains a major health burden with high incidence and poor prognosis, especially in Eastern Asia. Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the current standard for locally advanced ESCC, while adding immunotherapy may further improve outcomes. Beyond immune checkpoints, tumor cells in the tumor microenvironment (TME) evade immune surveillance via epigenetic mechanisms such as N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification.
