Drilling a safer path: Reconsidering the iliac wing as a reconstructive corridor
Abstract
Hostile groin pathology remains one of the most formidable challenges in vascular surgery. Infection, radiation injury, tumor resection, and repeated operative failure converge to render conventional in-line repair unsafe, while traditional extra-anatomic options often trade surgical feasibility for compromised durability. In this context, Barillà and colleagues revisit and refine an underutilized solution: the transiliac bone tunnel route for lower limb vascular reconstruction.1
