Numerical simulation of freeze resistance performance of basalt fiber permeable concrete based on CT technology
Abstract
Currently, most research on the freeze-thaw durability of fiber-reinforced permeable concrete is based on experimental studies. To reduce experimental costs and testing cycles, finite element software Abaqus was applied to perform numerical simulations of freeze-thaw resistance. A three-dimensional model of the permeable concrete was constructed using CT scanning technology. A Python script was developed within Abaqus to generate a random fiber distribution, and the basalt fibers were embedded into the concrete model. Material parameters for basalt fiber and permeable concrete were determined experimentally, and the internal temperature changes and compressive strength damage of basalt fiber permeable concrete(BFPC) specimens under freeze-thaw cycles were simulated. The simulation results showed that the temperature field exhibited a ring-shaped pattern, with heat transferring layer by layer. The temperature change in the central region consistently lagged behind that of the outer surface at each time step. Compressive strength was inversely correlated with the number of freeze-thaw cycles. The maximum error in compressive strength between the laboratory experiments and simulations was 6.09%, which is within the acceptable 10% limit, thus validating the feasibility of the 3D BFPC model and the finite element simulation approach.
