Limitations of the NMN-BBB score in capturing therapeutic accessibility
Abstract
We read with interest the Personal View by Nathalie L Albert and colleagues proposing the Nuclear Medicine and Neuro-Oncology blood–brain barrier (NMN-BBB) score for imaging-based classification of BBB disruption in glioblastoma.1 The authors should be commended for highlighting the importance of heterogeneous BBB permeability in neuro-oncology trials and for proposing a pragmatic imaging-based framework for patient stratification. However, several conceptual and methodological limitations warrant discussion.
