Abstract

Migration in the context of climate change is embedded within broader social, economic, political, and environmental processes. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change emphasises that such mobility is typically multicausal, with the health and wellbeing shaped primarily by the conditions under which movement occurs rather than by climate factors alone. Forced displacement, in particular, can exacerbate health risks through inadequate housing, disrupted services, food insecurity, and social marginalisation, especially in settings characterised by pre-existing poverty, disadvantage, and vulnerability.
