Abstract

We herein report the synthesis and catalytic application of a new family of Ru(II) complexes containing [N,N]-pyrazolyl based ligands. Ruthenium complexes (4a-c) were obtained in good yields as air-stable compounds. Their catalytic properties were successfully evaluated in the transfer hydrogenation of nitroarenes. The catalytic system formed by complex 4 in combination with hydrazine as hydrogen surrogate, shows high catalytic performance in mild and environmentally friendly reaction conditions. The best catalytic system formed by 4a/ N2H4 shows excellent reactivity, wide tolerance and performance for the transfer hydrogenation of several nitroarenes in excellent yields.
