Solvent-dependent of Pt/MoS2 electrocatalytic activity toward ethanol oxidation reaction studied by in situ electrochemical NMR spectroscopy
Abstract
In this work, MoS2 nanoflowers as supporting matrix for Pt is prepared through a simple hydrothermal method in different solvent to investigate its electrocatalytic activity for ethanol oxidation reaction. In situ electrochemistry - nuclear magnetic resonance is employed to investigate the reaction process of ethanol oxidation. The results demonstrate that the solvent has a large effect on the property of Pt/MoS2. The Pt/MoS2 hybrid synthesized in the solvent of DMF: H2O =2:1 shows a significantly enhanced electrocatalytic activity compared with others due to the special structure and the enhancing electron transport. This work provides a promising strategy in studying the role of the solvent in the synthetic process, as well as provides a way to explore the reaction mechanism.
