Colloidal stability of tellurium selenide nanorods with hexagonal cross-sections
Abstract
This study examines the temporal stability of colloidal tellurium selenide (TeₓSe₁₋ₓ) nanorods synthesized via Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquids (PLAL) over a five-month period. Fresh and aged colloids were thoroughly characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Results demonstrate that the colloid aged for five months maintains comparable morphological, chemical, and optical properties to the freshly prepared sample, confirming a shelf-life of at least five months. This prolonged stability is attributed to the presence of enolate ions within the colloidal system.
