A new approach to wireless power transfer with quantum dots-based fractional inductors: Design, analysis, and practical implementation
Abstract
The present work reports the realization and design of a fractional-order wireless power transmission (FOWPT) using in-house developed Zirconium Quantum Dots (Zr QDs) based fractional Inductor (FI). Here, two experimental realizations of the fractional-order mutual inductance are achieved using mutually coupled Zr QDs-based FIs, with one having Zr QDs as the core and the other with air as the core. Furthermore, an inductive coil power transfer circuit utilizing fractional-order mutual inductance is investigated. The expressions for fractional-order mutual inductance, output power, and efficiency have been derived analytically in both cases and compared with the experimental results. It has been observed that power efficiency can be increased to 93% using mutually coupled Zr QDs-based FI. The designed FOWPT system, employing FIs as both transmitter and receiver, demonstrates effective power transmission over a range of 30 cm to 250 cm. High fractional inductance and decreased order significantly improve the FOWPT system's output power efficiency from 60% to 80.2% within a range of 200 cm. It has been experimentally demonstrated to efficiently charge a 9 V, 500 mAh battery in 21.68 minutes at a distance of 200 cm.
