Recent advances in acyclic diene metathesis polymerization for the sustainable materials production
Abstract
The use of renewable sources of chemical raw materials for the production of valuable chemical products, such as plastics and composites, is a rapidly growing and significant area of modern chemical research. This is because it aims to address the critical issue of replacing non-renewable resources that have traditionally been used as the foundation for industrial processes. Among the catalytic processes actively explored in materials science, the olefin metathesis reaction stands out as a promising method for the efficient production of high-quality polymers with diverse properties and potential applications. These materials have the potential for biodegradability, but there are still challenges related to their recycling and reuse that need to be addressed. This mini-review summarizes recent advances in the production of sustainable materials through acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymerization and discusses some features of their properties depending on the polymer structure.
