Transport of Eyring-Powell nanofluid flow over a Riga surface with binary chemical reaction and convective boundary condition effects
Abstract
Current investigation on binary chemical processes that depend on activation energy has received considerable attention from researchers and engineers. Chemical species having activation energy are necessary for a variety of design and manufacturing operations. The findings have substantial impacts on several relevant disciplines, including chemical engineering, oil reservoir and geothermal engineering, the mechanics of oil emulsions and water, and the food processing sector. Therefore, the investigation presents the numerical analysis with Wakif-Buongiorno's model by incorporating binary chemical processes and activation energy on the radiative Eyring-Powell nanofluid flow across a Riga surface. The Shooting method combined with the Runge–Kutta scheme is applied to tackle the nonlinear, coupled ordinary differential equations describing the flow behaviour. This analysis takes into account velocity slip as well as thermal boundary restrictions under convective conditions. The study reveals that the modified Hartmann number ( Q ) radiation parameter ( Rd ) , and activation energy ( E ) play crucial roles in regulating momentum, thermal, and concentration transport, respectively. An increase in ( Q : 1.0 → 2.0 ) boosts surface velocity by nearly 18.6 % due to the intensified Lorentz force induced by the Riga plate, while raising ( Rd : 0.2 → 0.8 ) enhances temperature within the boundary layer by about 22.4 %, reflecting stronger radiative heat transfer. Similarly, increasing ( E : 1.0 → 4.0 ) results in a 15.7 % elevation in near-wall concentration, as higher activation barriers hinder molecular reactions. By unveiling the intricate coupling between heat and mass transfer mechanisms, this study contributes to enhancing the efficiency of engineering systems and optimizing performance across diverse industrial applications.
