Abstract

BACKGROUND: The Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators aims to develop skills and confidence in leadership and innovation among mid-career nurse leaders. A comprehensive evaluation began at program inception and informed the development of the fellowship. PURPOSE: Provide preliminary data to assess the activities and early outcomes of the fellowship and highlight fellows' experiences. METHODS: The evaluation collected longitudinal, mixed-methods data from entry, annual, and exit surveys, and annual focus groups with fellows. Bibliometric analysis and review of grant awards were conducted to assess scholarly productivity. DISCUSSION: Data indicated that fellows increased their leadership and innovation confidence, had strong scholarly productivity, and expanded their influence and networks. Fellows described the fellowship as transformative in shifting their thinking and available resources. CONCLUSION: Early outcomes show the fellowship is meeting its program objectives. Fellows highlighted changes that suggest success beyond traditional academic productivity measures.
