Atypical case of intracerebral schwannoma in a child
Abstract
A 2-year-old girl presented with headache following a fall at home. Magnetic Resonance Imaging revealed a well-circumscribed, slightly lobulated mass in the left frontal lobe adjacent to the body of the left lateral ventricle, that showed contrast enhancement with surrounding edema. Peripheral fissures (arrows in Fig.1A) containing fluid were observed within the mass—an imaging feature rarely seen in other intracranial tumors. The patient subsequently underwent neuronavigation-assisted surgical resection.
