Abstract

Medical physics is an exciting and inherently interdisciplinary field at the intersection of physics and medicine, shaped by close interaction with imaging, computer science, radiation biology, and clinical practice. It is fundamentally an applied branch of physics, in which the rigour of physical principles and quantitative reasoning meet the conventions and traditions of medicine. Furthermore, medical physics research spans a broad spectrum from fundamental investigation to clinical implementation, with most efforts concentrated near the clinical interface [1].
