Abstract

• PRE and POST treatments effectively reduced weight loss and delayed senescence. • PRE and PP treatments increased total phenolics by up to 20%. • Pigment degradation and phenolic biosynthesis show a clear metabolic trade-off. • LT&UV-B timing determined the activation and persistence of kale metabolism.
