Abstract

Warehouse planning is a complex task that is characterised by various challenges: low data quality, unpredictable future developments, and a shortage of specialists. Due to the high degree of individuality in projects, the planning process has so far been predominantly manual and heavily depends on personal knowledge. This paper presents the challenges of the stakeholders involved in the warehouse planning process and outlines the requirements on a warehouse planning platform that automates individual planning steps. For this purpose, structured and semi-structured expert interviews were conducted with researchers, planners, technology providers and industrial companies.
