Abstract

Digitalization is gaining momentum and covers an increasing number of areas in both business and public affairs. Many businesses have experienced challenging development- and implementation processes of digital software / applications, and the difficulty of extracting the expected profit from the investment. To fully adopt the new technology and realize a profit, the technology must be domesticated – it must be transformed from “new to our”. In this paper, we will examine how gradually adopting a new 3D visualization tool affects the implementation process and its domestication, based on a case taken from a Norwegian offshore yard.
