Sustainability criteria for future foresight in manufacturing companies

To remain competitive in the future, decisions in strategic planning are based on the foresight of manufacturing sustainability. For this, Scenario-Technique provides decision support: Development and availability of manufacturing technologies can already be systematically anticipated as an influence factor, but not yet their sustainability. Instead of an abstract influence factor "sustainability", this article presents a criteria system. Based on a systematic literature analysis, sustainability criteria are identified and clustered to obtain sustainability influence factors for the evaluation and selection of the right manufacturing technology. The influence factors are classified in a described framework to derive implications for the strategic product planning of manufacturing technologies. A final case study shows which scenarios can be expected when using certain key technologies and what effect these key technologies have on influence factors.
