Abstract

Wet abrasive jet machining with industrial robots can be used to prepare cutting edges specifically for their intended use case. However, planning and process control are complex and require extensive knowledge to produce customized cutting edge micro shapes. Experiments were carried out to quantify the inclination-dependent material removal rates, which were used to develop a model for the simulation of jet machining. In this publication, a simulation approach is presented in which this removal model is applied and the influence on the subsurface zone is estimated as a function of the relative positioning of the jet.
