Abstract

Viticulture is increasingly challenged by climate change and rising sustainability demands. Its potential to harness ecosystem services for enhancing resilience and ensuring supply chain continuity warrants systematic investigation. This study evaluates the current state of research on ecosystem services and associated risks in viticulture, combining bibliometric, network and meta- analyses. Findings show a steady increase in both publications and citations over time. However, studies that cover more ecosystem services are not statistically correlated with greater academic impact, suggesting that mere quantification of the ecosystem services in viticulture is not the main driver of scholarly recognition. Instead, the scientific impact appears to be shaped by the depth, originality, and practical relevance of studies that address risks and propose solutions to critical challenges in viticulture. The study provides valuable insights to support future strategies aimed at improving the sustainability and resilience of viticultural systems.
