Study of the hatch cover strength of a container for bulk cargo transportation
Abstract
The article proposes a concept of a container for bulk cargo transportation including grain. This concept is based on a universal container of the standard size 1СС. A feature of a proposed modernization consists in an idea that a container floor is formed by covers of the unloading hatches, and loading hatches are installed on a container roof. Study of the strength of the unloading hatch cover strength was conducted to substantiate the proposed modernization. A mathematical model of the dynamic load of the container under the conditions of railway transportation was created to determine the vertical dynamic loads acting on the hatch cover. The strength calculations were performed in the SolidWorks simulation software using the finite element method. The results of the strength calculations of the unloading hatch cover showed that the stresses in the hatch cover structure are lower by 11% than the permissible ones. Therefore, the strength of the container unloading hatch cover is maintained. The conducted research will contribute to increasing the efficiency of bulk cargo transportation in international traffic, as well as to create developments regarding the modernization of the existing container fleet for bulk cargo transportation.
