Computed tomography angiography imaging of double superior vena cava in a case of tetralogy of fallot
Abstract
Tetralogy of Fallot is characterized by ventricular septal defect, right ventricular hypertrophy, overriding of aorta and pulmonary tract obstruction. This leads to the development of cyanosis in the baby. However, cyanosis is not apparent in the early days of neonate due to the presence of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). As the PDA closes, the obstruction of the pulmonary tract leads to a reduction in blood flow to the lungs, causing the development of cyanosis. Tetralogy of Fallot can be present in isolation or with various cardiovascular or extra-cardiovascular abnormalities. This case demonstrates the computed tomography angiography appearance of tetralogy of Fallot and duplicated superior vena cava in a 3-month-old female infant.
