Update on ultrasound in spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis
Abstract
Musculoskeletal ultrasound has emerged as an important imaging modality in the diagnosis and management of spondyloarthritis and psoriatic disease offering detailed insights that help guide clinical decision-making and optimizing patient care. This non-invasive technique offers real-time visualization of peripheral soft tissue structures, enabling the detection of synovitis, enthesitis and tenosynovitis with high sensitivity and specificity. It facilitates early diagnosis by identifying subclinical inflammation, allows differential diagnosis with other inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthropathies, aids in the assessment of disease activity and structural damage, and provides valuable inflammation for tailoring treatment strategies.
