Noval bimetalic UiO-66(Cu/Zr) MOFs for extraordinary high removal of Congo red
Abstract
Bimetallic UiO-66(Cu/Zr) MOFs were synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal method for effective adsorption of Congo red in water. The skeleton topology of UiO-66(Cu/Zr) is very similar to that of UiO-66, but there are more adsorption active sites on its surface, and the adsorption capacity of Congo red (CR) was up to 431.5 mg/g. The adsorption process was governed by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R 2 = 0.99967), suggesting chemisorption as the rate-limiting step. Bimetallic UiO-66(Cu/Zr) is a highly efficient adsorbent for the deep purification of Congo Red-contaminated water.
