Comparison of chemical constituents, antioxidant, anti-amylase and anti-acetylcholinesterase activities of Helianthus annuus microgreens cultivated from soils with and without buffalo manure
Abstract
Currently, health awareness has an increasing trend towards a healthier lifestyle of people that enhance healthy diet from plant functional foods to prevent non-communicable diseases i.e. type 2 diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer's disease. Hence, effect of buffalo manure on total phenolic content, antioxidant, anti-amylase and anti-acetylcholinesterase activities, and functional groups of chemical components of Helianthus annuus microgreens were focused. The microgreens were planting in soil mixed with buffalo manure (HAM) and without buffalo manure (HA) for 10 days. Total phenolic content, antioxidant, anti-amylase and anti-acetylcholinesterase activities were measured by a spectrophotometer, and functional groups of components were identified by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The result showed that seeding rate (32.41 ± 28.62%) of microgreens of HAM was greater than the HA microgreens (14.84 ± 2.58%), significantly ( P -value
