Abstract

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are less costly and offer better efficiency compared to conventional silicon-based solar cells. In this context, researchers are striving to develop more suitable dye materials. The efficiency of DSSCs was investigated in this study using Jeju putgyul and Jeju lemon extracts, and a spectrochemical analysis was performed on both extracts. Measurement results revealed that the absorbance peak positions of the two extracts were similar. Furthermore, the fabricated solar cells exhibited short-circuit current density (J sc ), open-circuit voltage (V oc ), fill factor (FF), and efficiency (η) of 0.390–0.415 mA/cm 2 , 0.48–0.51 V, 70.57–71.69%, and 0.110–0.114%, respectively, whereas a basic undyed solar cells exhibited values of 0.115 mA/cm 2 , 0.42 V, 61.47%, and 0.030%, demonstrating an efficiency roughly 3.5 times higher.
