Abstract

We report a case of a 33-year-old man with no prior medical history who suffered cardiopulmonary arrest due to massive hemorrhage caused by an industrial drill penetrating his left inguinal region. After arrival at the hospital, arterial blood gas analysis revealed extreme acidosis with a pH of 6.62. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was continued, and massive transfusion was promptly initiated. Return of spontaneous circulation was achieved within 8 min after arrival. Surgical exploration revealed complete transection of the left femoral artery, which was successfully repaired by end-to-end anastomosis. Recovery of consciousness was observed approximately 7 h after surgery. The patient was discharged on day 12 without any neurological deficit.
