Abstract

• Nitrogen-pyrolyzed PDC film eliminates protective layer, simplifies fabrication. • Silver paste leads & joints enhance efficiency & reliability, without coatings. • PDC sensor fabricated with good repeatability and sensitivity validates simple fab. The measurement of parameters such as heat flux is of great practical importance for the experimental validation of high temperature components. Film heat flux sensors can be utilized to obtain surface heat flux quickly and without interference. Film heat flux sensors prepared by conventional Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) methods have fast response times but low sensitivity. Film heat flux sensors prepared using Polymer Derived Ceramics (PDC) have high sensitivity, but require the addition of a protective layer, which increases process complexity. To address the process complexity of PDC film heat flux sensors, nitrogen pyrolyzed PDC was adopted as the sensitive film and silver paste was used as the lead film and lead connection solder joints without the need for a protective layer, which improves the preparation efficiency of PDC film heat flux sensors. The prepared PDC film heat flux sensor has a sensitivity of 15.5 mV/(W/cm 2 ) and a response time of 3.1 s with good repeatability. The feasibility of the method for the preparation of film heat flux sensors was verified, and a method for the preparation of film heat flux sensors with a simple process was provided.
