Baby growth-online: an all-in-one web-based app for multivariate growth assessment and comparison in infants aged 0–24 months
Abstract
BabyGrowth-Online is a lightweight, web-based software tool for multidimensional assessment of infant growth in children aged 0–24 months. Using World Health Organization (WHO) growth standards, the system integrates routine anthropometric measures—height, weight, and head circumference—into an all-in-one visual report designed for caregivers, clinicians, and other non-technical users. To complement conventional single-indicator percentile charts, the software computes a cohesion coefficient that summarizes overall conformity to age- and sex-specific reference patterns. Infant records are stratified by sex and month of age, and multivariate Euclidean distances from reference samples are transformed into a normalized coefficient ranging from 0 to 1, with higher values indicating closer agreement with normative growth profiles. A practical alert threshold of 0.2 is implemented to support rapid visual screening. The application requires no database backend and generates immediate outputs including percentiles, summary tables, and scatterplots. In an illustrative example involving two male infants aged 4 and 6 months with identical measurements, the computed cohesion coefficients were 0.21 and 0.27, respectively, showing age-dependent differences in multivariate positioning despite similar raw anthropometric values. These results demonstrate the software workflow and interpretability of the proposed index. BabyGrowth-Online is intended as a proof-of-concept platform for accessible multidimensional growth monitoring; further empirical and clinical validation is warranted.
