Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease is an advanced and irreversible neurological disorder that has a substantial effect on the neurons, leading to cognitive decline and memory impairment. The mHealth system iOS prototype, SafeCircle, is developed to tackle this severe and fatal disorder. In this paper, the development of the SafeCircle iOS prototype is discussed, which leverages a groundbreaking approach that combines artificial intelligence with the latest micro-radar technology. This platform provides caregiver and patient profile management, real-time crisis notifications, emergency support, and one-click SOS assistance. It also includes a dashboard showing fall and wandering events from the last 7 days, real-time location sharing, prevention resources, and incident video clips when an anomaly is detected. This approach does not record video continuously; it captures a short 10–12s video only when a fall or wandering event occurs. Moreover, the caregiver can then review the clip and mark the alert as a true or false event. The platform is designed to support HIPAA compliance through privacy-focused data handling, controlled access, and secure incident-based monitoring. SafeCircle creates a secure and supportive environment for individuals with Alzheimer’s by integrating these features. SafeCircle is a responsive and effective care system that enhances patient safety and relieves caregiver anxiety and workload. The SafeCircle application seeks to improve the quality of life for caregivers and those living with Alzheimer’s disease. Because of its user-friendly interface and cutting-edge monitoring capabilities, SafeCircle represents a significant advancement in addressing and mitigating the challenges faced by the healthcare system.
