Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between learning styles and creative thinking skills among first-year Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students. A hypothesis was formed based on potential differences between these variables, tested using a cross-sectional design. The population included students in undergraduate programs at 21 Istanbul foundation universities during the 2023–2024 academic year. The sample comprised 50 first-year students, selected via convenience sampling for practical data collection. Learning styles were identified using the Kolb Learning Style Inventory. Creative thinking skills were measured by the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. Data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistics. The results showed no statistically significant difference between students’ learning styles and creative thinking skills. Thus, the findings do not support the research hypothesis. It is recommended that future studies utilize larger, more diverse samples from multiple universities to enhance generalisability and external validity.
