Abstract

In the past, the quality of construction execution was much lower than it is now. This was due to many factors, such as the lack of available quality materials or raw materials or the lack of expertise and responsibility on the construction site, whether it is on the part of the workers or the construction supervisor. The impact of these factors has resulted in structures that contain many cavities and voids. Therefore, if we proceed nowadays to non-destructive measurements and localisation of concrete reinforcement, the instrument cannot separate the reinforcement from the caverns and voids. It is necessary to resort to destructive methods and remove the covering layer of concrete and determine the reinforcement and condition of the concrete structure, as the structure may also contain electrical or hot-water lines that we cannot separate with non-destructive measurements.
