Patent Searches in the University Environment – New Challenges Related to AI

In this article, we deal in more detail with different approaches to search activities in the university environment concerning the intention of searching, i.e. whether it is a search activity aimed at identifying the state of the art in identifying a field of research, writing a research project, assessing the potential patent protection of a research result, identifying the potential of application of a solution on the market, etc. We will focus on the description of search tools that use semantic search and artificial intelligence (AI) in research compared to traditional methods, and we will point out the possibilities, but also the limits of their application in the university environment. Technical solutions and terminology that fall into the field of air transport will be used as model examples.
