Abstract

In the field of air traffic management, the ability to accurately predict flight-related time data plays a significant role. Among the most important of these data is the estimated time of arrival of an aircraft, which is important for planning in traffic management and airport operations. The accuracy of these predictions further affects the traffic flow, resource management and allows for timely response to operational deviations. Currently, there are several systems that can predict estimated time of arrival based on different methods and input data, which leads to different system accuracy. This research article deals with the analysis of the accuracy of the estimated landing time provided by selected systems used in Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic. The focus is placed on the influence of the time distance from the destination airport on the accuracy of the prediction. As part of the work, a software application was designed and implemented features that allow the import, filtering and evaluation of data from operating days. Using this application, an analysis of selected cases was performed, and time windows were proposed in which the selected systems can be considered more reliable. The results contribute to a deeper understanding of the properties of prediction systems and can be used to optimize operational planning.
