Abstract

Lead halide perovskites have attracted great research interest due to their excellent light absorption capability and special material properties. A thorough understanding of mechanical characteristics of all types of perovskite-based structures is of great importance to ensure their reliability in practical applications. This paper studies the effects of photostriction, thermal expansion, and electrostriction on the postbuckling and nonlinear dynamic instability behaviors of annular perovskite plates, based on a proposed opto-electro-thermo-elastic constitutive model. According to the first-order shear deformation theory and the von Kármán nonlinear theory, the nonlinear partial differential governing equations of such annular plates under light, temperature, and electric fields are obtained by using Hamilton’s principle. The differential quadrature method and Bolotin’s methods with the iteration technique are introduced to numerically solve the motion equations. A comprehensive parametric study is conducted to explore the influences of multi-physics fields on the nonlinear mechanical behaviors of annular perovskite plates. The key findings indicate that under combined multi-physics loading, illumination, thermal effects, and electric field weaken postbuckling strength and narrow the instability. The critical postbuckling load of a simple-supported annular perovskite plate can be reduced by 63.73% under 70 mW/ cm 2 illumination and an electric field of 1 V / μ m . Moreover, the effect of electric field intensity follows a second-order dependence, while the influence of light intensity is linear. Notably, the photothermal effect is non-negligible. The present findings provide a benchmark for evaluating the service life of perovskite-based structures and devices in engineering.
