Nonoperative management of a Jones fracture in a non-athlete
Abstract
The fifth metatarsal is the most commonly fractured bone in the foot among both athletes and the general population. When these fractures occur in the proximal region of the bone, they are classified into anatomical zones. This classification is important because the location of the fracture significantly influences healing potential, prognosis, and management. Evaluation typically involves plain radiographs of the foot, and treatment decisions are based on the specific anatomical zone involved.
