Exenatide-Induced Urticaria: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Abstract
Exenatide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, represents an important therapeutic option for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) due to its documented efficacy in improving glycemic control, promoting weight loss, and providing cardiovascular benefits. While gastrointestinal symptoms are commonly encountered with this class of agents, systemic hypersensitivity reactions, including urticaria and anaphylaxis, are considered rare but may result in significant morbidity when they occur.
