From Reference Values to Clinical Impact: Monocyte-to-HDL Ratio (MHR) and Its Association with Inflammation and Mortality
Abstract
Traditional inflammatory biomarkers fail to capture the interplay between inflammation and lipid metabolism, key drivers of disease progression, especially in the context of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic health [1]. The novel Monocyte-to-HDL Ratio (MHR) biomarker reflects monocyte-driven inflammation and HDL’s anti-inflammatory properties [2]. MHR's reference ranges and prognostic utility remain undefined. This study establishes normal MHR reference ranges and examines its association with various inflammatory diseases and associated mortality, including cardiovascular diseases (CVD), respiratory diseases (RD), kidney diseases (KD), diabetes mellitus (DM), and cancers.
