Abstract

Carcinoid heart disease (CHD) is a rare but significant complication of carcinoid tumors that occurs in 20% to 50% of patients. It is characterized by progressive worsening of right-sided stenotic and regurgitant valve disease, dysfunction, and poor prognosis.1 Valve surgery has notably improved the survival of patients with CHD and is recommended by guidelines for severe symptomatic valve lesions, although this is based on small observational cohort studies only.2 This study reports our 20-year, single-center experience of patients with CHD undergoing valve surgery.
