Intra-aortic chord and transient binocular amaurosis
Abstract
A 65-year-old man who had a history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus presented to the neurology clinic with a 20-day history of transient binocular amaurosis, absent other neurological deficits. Over the 20 days before admission to our hospital, he experienced 2 episodes of amaurosis lasting for 1 to 2 seconds. The patient denied chest pain, headache, vertigo, or motor weakness. Cervical and cranial computed tomography angiography incidentally revealed a prominent intraluminal membrane-like structure traversing the aortic arch lumen (Figure 1, A-C).
