Abstract

India stands at a pivotal moment in its journey towards universal health coverage—a crucial component of the government's Viksit Bharat vision to elevate it to the status of a developed country by 2047, 100 years since its formation as an independent nation. At this juncture, there is unprecedented political will for reform and sustained economic growth, creating a window of opportunity to advance transformative change and for India to leapfrog to a new health-care paradigm: a universal, citizen-centred, and technology-driven system that dissociates affluence from access to high-quality, comprehensive health care.
