Abstract

Prevalence of smoking among people living with HIV in Viet Nam is significantly higher than in the general population. More than 50% of men with HIV are estimated to use tobacco, compared with the national people average of 46·1% for men.1,2 This high rate is supported by another publication,3 which reports a 36·1% smoking rate for men and a low lifetime cessation rate of 20·9% among people living with HIV in Viet Nam. The high smoking rate increases this population's compounded health risks, which necessitates effective interventions.
